Abstract
This article is devoted to the issues of local studies in educational institutions. The analysis of system of educational work in the specialty 'Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology' allows us to see that the local studies play an important role in the development of the student as an individual and as a professional. The author gives the description of work experience in local studies.
